Agriculture is a four-year doctoral programme (third cycle) of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Maribor. Candidates earn 240 ECTS credits and the Doctor of Philosophy degree.
The programme aims at independent, high-level research. Candidates gain a thorough grasp of theoretical and methodological foundations and of leading research methods, procedures and processes. They are expected to work critically within science and the profession, absorb and apply new knowledge, and devise new solutions to complex problems.
Graduates are prepared to join scientific research teams, take part in projects, and communicate at an international level in scientific and professional settings. Ranking is based on grade point average and thesis grade when places are limited.
Before enrolling, candidates must have passed master's-level courses in agricultural production, covering crops, vegetables, grapes, fruit, grassland and livestock.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Open to holders of a second-cycle (master's) degree, an academic undergraduate programme adopted before 11 June 2004, or a specialisation following a professional undergraduate programme adopted before that date. Prior to enrolment, candidates must pass 60 ECTS from the master's programme in Agriculture: six courses of 10 ECTS each covering field crops, vegetables and ornamentals, grape production, fruit production, grassland and forage management, and livestock technologies. Regulated-profession programmes also qualify. If places are limited, ranking uses grade point average (80%) and thesis grade (20%).
