Computer Science and Mathematics is an interdisciplinary first-cycle university degree delivered jointly by the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and the university's computer and information science faculty. It takes three years, or six semesters, with 60 credits each year and 180 ECTS in total.
The programme teaches the theory behind computer science together with discrete mathematics and computing in their modern forms. Graduates gain broad grounding in the fundamentals of computing and information science, which lets them follow and later develop new advances in the field.
They also have solid background knowledge, so they can work in new interdisciplinary areas where theoretical computing meets supporting mathematical fields, for example some disciplines of biotechnology, biomedical sciences and theoretical chemistry. Graduates are trained for independent professional work and for teamwork, and obtain a university-level diploma in engineering.
