Mathematics and Computer Science is a first-cycle academic programme from the University of Primorska's Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies (UP FAMNIT), based in Koper and offered in Slovene and English. Study is full-time over three years and six semesters and carries 180 ECTS credits. Graduates receive a university-level (UN) diploma in the two fields, which the faculty places on a par with a B.Sc.-level qualification.
The course joins deep mathematical grounding to modern computing. Early on, students work through probability, algebra, analysis and discrete mathematics while building programming and algorithmic skills. Later modules extend this into machine learning, information security, statistics and databases, alongside optimisation, numerical methods and data structures, tying theory to problem solving.
Emphasis falls on rigorous proof-based thinking and mathematical modelling. The faculty presents the degree as preparation for work in data science, software development and research, and as a base for further study and international careers.
