Mathematics is a first-cycle academic programme run by the University of Primorska's Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies (UP FAMNIT) and taught in Koper. It lasts three years across six semesters, carries 180 ECTS credits and is delivered full-time in both Slovene and English. Graduates are awarded the title diplomirani matematik (UN), which the faculty equates to a B.Sc. in Mathematics.
Applicants can enter with the general matura, or with the four-year vocational matura combined with a general matura exam in Mathematics. Anyone who finished a four-year secondary programme before June 1995 is also eligible. When places are limited, selection draws on an additional matura subject, which counts for 20 percent, and on Mathematics grades from the last two years of secondary school, which count for 40 percent.
The programme page also outlines practical training, elective options, the competences graduates gain and their employment prospects.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: General matura; or a four-year vocational matura plus a general matura exam in Mathematics (or, where Mathematics was already part of the vocational matura, another general matura subject not yet passed); or any four-year secondary programme finished before 1 June 1995. Where places are limited, ranking counts the additional matura subject exam (20%) and Mathematics grades from years 3 and 4 of secondary school (40%).
