The four-year Civil Engineering bachelor's programme at Balıkesir University's Faculty of Engineering traces its origins to 1976 at the Balıkesir State Engineering and Architecture Academy, and has been part of Balıkesir University since 1992. The department has five branches: structures, mechanics, geotechnics, transportation and hydraulics.
The teaching staff includes two professors, six associate professors, ten doctoral lecturers and five research assistants. The programme trains graduates to design, build and operate all kinds of structures, and graduates receive the 'İnşaat Mühendisi' title. The Bologna package lists an internship.
