The four-year Chemistry bachelor's programme is taught in Turkish in the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The department has five branches: analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry and organic chemistry. In the first year students study laboratory safety, physics, general chemistry and mathematics to bring their knowledge to a common level. Later years add core courses such as analytical, inorganic, biochemistry, instrumental analysis, physical and organic chemistry, industrial chemistry, electives and laboratory courses.
The programme aims to train chemists who know the foundations of the discipline well and can carry out research and development to international standards in industrial organisations and university laboratories. Graduates receive a bachelor's degree and the title Kimyager.
