This BSc Computer Science develops the knowledge and skills needed to design and build software systems. Core topics include programming, algorithms, database design, the security of information and data structures, with a focus on how software is built in practice. The degree balances current industry skills with the fundamentals that remain useful as technology changes. Students tackle practical problems and complete a substantial final-year project connected to the software sector, using industry-standard tools throughout development. Placement, part-time and foundation year routes are available, with teaching scheduled to suit those balancing study alongside work and other commitments. Graduates are prepared for careers in technology, software engineering and other roles where problem solving, system design and data analysis are central.
