Data Science

This BSc Data Science develops a grounding in mathematics, statistics and computing, with the skills to turn raw information into decisions. Students learn to collect, store, analyse and visualise data, and to draw out insights that inform decisions across many kinds of organisation. Modules balance current tools with deeper theory, so that learning remains useful as methods change. Teaching is mainly in the evening, with full-time and part-time study available and a foundation year route for students who need extra preparation. Students use networked computer laboratories and complete a final-year project that tests their skills against realistic problems. The course prepares graduates for careers as data scientists or data-driven software developers, as well as analytical roles in many sectors. The programme also values clear communication of results to non-specialists.
