History and Spanish

This combined honours degree pairs History with Spanish and gives you the opportunity to study the history of Britain and Spain side by side. The historical content spans centuries of change in the historic city of Chester, which has significant Roman, medieval and early modern remains. The Spanish languages team develops your knowledge of the language and culture, while the history team teaches you to analyse evidence and interpretation. Options include topics focused on Spain, such as crusading, medieval uprisings, the Black Death, early modern witchcraft and the First World War. The course encourages students to gain practical experience with local organisations and institutions, contributing to the preservation and interpretation of history.
