Secondary Religious Studies PGCE with QTS

This one-year PGCE with QTS prepares trainees to teach religious education to secondary pupils and leads to qualified teacher status. The course emphasises cultural awareness, and trainees collaborate with peers at several points across the year to develop that understanding. Study is based at the university's Exton Park campus in Chester. Religious education trainees gain experience in local schools, enriching their classroom practice and subject knowledge. The university has links with a local development education centre that supports this cultural focus. Modules build knowledge of pedagogy, assessment and curriculum, along with wider professional issues. The course is designed to give trainees confidence in the basic national curriculum requirements. Course leadership is provided by a professor. Graduates are prepared to teach religious education across the secondary age range.
