BA/BS in Mathematics

This undergraduate major in the College of Arts and Sciences builds logical, abstract reasoning by drawing on many branches of mathematics. Mathematics and statistics are presented as central to both science and modern technology. Pure-track graduates should have a solid command of calculus in one and several variables and of linear algebra, plus an understanding of the theory behind statistics, including probability. Students also work through the BU Hub, the university-wide general education program, and some of those requirements can be met inside the major. Undergraduate students also complete general education requirements alongside the major, so the degree combines focused study with a broad academic foundation. Prospective applicants should consult the program page and the relevant school admissions pages for current requirements, deadlines and tuition, since those details are not given on the program page.
