PGCert in Educational/Instructional Media Design

This graduate certificate teaches adults interested in teaching, training or other instruction how computer games and simulations can serve learning. Participants study how such games and simulations are designed and built, learn the relevant theories of learning, and pick up tools for judging whether they work. The certificate totals 15 units across five courses: a first course on instructional games and simulations, one on game scripting and development, a second course on games and simulations, one on assessing learning from educational media, and a one-unit-per-term seminar. Cohorts are funded entirely by student fees under a self-support model, in partnership between a CSUN college and The Tseng College. Inquiries go to the educational psychology and counseling department.
