Program details

Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Dance combines technique training with theoretical study and offers performance opportunities for students who want to keep dancing during their undergraduate years. The major requires forty-one credits alongside the university's general requirements. Undergraduates work with faculty and also share some classes, rehearsals and performances with graduate students in the department. A dance minor of eighteen hours is available, mainly made up of technique classes. Other students in the university may enroll in lower-level technique classes, and with consent they can register for intermediate and upper-level classes. Non-majors are encouraged to join the Mather Dance Collective, and some may be invited into further performing opportunities. The department sits in the College of Arts and Sciences, so dance majors can combine studio work with the broader liberal arts curriculum and other fields of study.
