The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics is part of the department of mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics. All of its undergraduate degrees share a common calculus and differential equations sequence of four courses with a computing element, and the mathematics majors then continue into analysis and algebra.
Compared with the Bachelor of Arts, the BS asks for more major hours, including extra mathematics technical electives and science coursework, although the overall credit total is the same. Each degree requires at least 120 credit hours.
Learning outcomes include mastery of linear algebra concepts such as vector spaces, matrix factorizations and solving linear systems, along with analyzing the solvability of problems in practice. Prospective students can request information from the department and review the full application steps on the official program page before applying.
