Overview

The Master of Science in Statistics lets students pursue statistical theory and methods, or add an entrepreneurship emphasis. It serves working statisticians seeking new skills as well as students heading for a doctorate. Students start with foundational theory, data analysis and linear modeling courses, then choose electives to reach at least thirty credit hours. The degree ends with either a project applying statistics to real data or a thesis, completed with a faculty mentor. Graduate assistantships for teaching or research are open to eligible students. An entrepreneurial track, offered with the management school, includes an intensive one-week workshop on how industry uses statistics from a managerial point of view. Prospective students can request information from the department and review the full application steps on the official program page before applying.
