Overview
Offered on the Main Campus, this major explores how plants, animals and microorganisms coexist and rely on one another. Students can earn a B.A. or a B.S., with 64 to 74 credit hours required.
Learning continues in the field as well as the laboratory. The university runs a Lake Michigan field station on Beaver Island with six labs, and students may also attend a summer field school on the Gulf Coast while paying CMU tuition.
Through BIO403, undergraduates can share research, and some present beyond campus. Faster routes to a master's are offered in biology and public health, and graduates may find work at museums, zoos, agencies or nonprofits. Listed start terms are Fall 2026 on August 31 and Spring 2027 on January 11.
