BA/BS in Mathematics

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Clayton State is built for students heading into careers that use mathematical or computing skills. It also leaves space for electives that prepare graduates for further study in mathematics or computer science. The plan of study combines the university core, an eighteen-hour field of study that includes calculus, programming, and science courses, and upper-division major work such as transition to higher mathematics, algebra, differential equations, and analysis. A capstone is completed through an internship or a selected-topics option, and students may add a concentration in financial technology through their electives. Program outcomes include solving modeled problems, reading and writing proofs, interpreting data, using technology, and communicating mathematics in speech and writing. Prospective students can contact the program coordinator at Clayton State University for guidance on course planning and next steps.
