BA/BS in Sociology

Clayton State's Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Social Services studies human interaction in groups and social institutions. Minors in sociology and social work are also offered. The program gives students grounding in sociological theory, concepts, and research, then shows how they apply to work in social service agencies and nonprofits. It suits students who want to help people, tackle social problems, examine how institutions such as the family shape identity, or start a nonprofit. Graduates are expected to use core sociological ideas, describe how social service agencies are organized and the ethical codes they follow, explain social stratification and inequality, and evaluate social welfare policies and service delivery. Prospective students can contact the program coordinator at Clayton State University for guidance on course planning and next steps.
