Cert in Accounting and Related Services

This short certificate at College of DuPage targets people who want to start working in bookkeeping-style roles. The focus is on the day-to-day financial tasks that keep an organization running: tracking money owed to vendors, recording money coming in from customers, and processing employee pay. Along the way, learners practice with accounting software so they can keep a general ledger on a computer rather than on paper. The coursework builds both technical competence and the habits expected in a professional finance office. The program totals 8 credits, which makes it a compact option for someone testing the field or adding a credential to existing experience. Students choose between two introductory accounting courses, then complete study in payroll and in an online bookkeeping platform. It sits alongside several related accountancy, bookkeeping, and tax credentials at the college, so completers can continue into a longer program later if they decide to go further.
