Cert in Computer Programming

Python has become a common language across software development and data work, and this certificate gives students core competence in using it. The program is compact, totaling twelve credits across three courses. Students start with programming logic and technique, which establishes how to think through problems before writing code. They then move to an introduction to Python and a second course that applies the language to data science. Along the way, the coursework touches basic and advanced language concepts, data structures, the standard library, and the design of program logic. The credential suits learners who already have a degree and want a specific technical skill, as well as students building toward a larger computing program. Credits can apply toward other certificates and degrees in computer and information science. The catalog lists each course with its code and credit value, and the department page offers more detail on related options.
