— it helps other students.
This certificate is intended for students who study or already hold a degree in a science or engineering field but have no formal credential in computer science. It also helps students who show promise for graduate work yet lack the prerequisite courses needed to enter a graduate computer science program.
Applicants need two semesters of calculus, two semesters of programming, and either a bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.00 or be presently enrolled in an undergraduate major. The coursework covers low-level programming, data structures, formal methods, computer systems, operating systems and algorithm analysis, together with discrete mathematics and further courses. The certificate is pursued full time only, apart from limits that prerequisites can create.
Full course lists, advising contacts and academic policies for the current year are published in the university catalog.
