BA/BS in Communication and Media Studies

The mass communication major builds skills in media writing, research, public speaking and interpersonal communication. Students learn to deliver messages in written, spoken and mediated forms to many different audiences, whether they later work in business, media, sports or nonprofit organizations. Hands-on practice comes through contributing to the student newspaper and working at the campus radio station, which lets students act as a voice for their peers. The practical training sits alongside a liberal arts education shaped by Concordia's Christian mission. The program is also available as a minor. Sample careers include reporter, editor and social media specialist. Because the major rests on a broad liberal arts core, graduates also develop research habits and a clear speaking and writing style useful in many professions.
