PGCert in Community Organization and Advocacy

This interdisciplinary certificate builds skills in organizational planning, leadership and program evaluation. Working and aspiring professionals widen their perspective on urban development by learning from several fields: psychology, sociology, geography, public service and liberal studies. Students complete a required course on metropolitan planning and then choose three electives from a list that includes sustainable urban transportation, geographic information systems for community development, local government administration, poverty and inequality in public policy, and housing and community development. No more than two courses counted toward the certificate may come from the same department, and the course list is subject to change. The catalog entry for the program lists the full set of required courses, a suggested plan of study and the learning outcomes expected of graduates.
