Overview

The Information Technology A.A.S. prepares students for technology careers across many industries, and graduates may also transfer toward a bachelor's degree. Outcomes emphasize analytical thinking and problem solving, a business-aware view of technology, and the use of systems development methods in project work. Students study hardware, software, networks, security, data, online commerce, management information systems, and the legal and ethical side of the field. They also learn to design usable solutions, judge new technologies against user needs, and communicate effectively. Courses such as database concepts and systems analysis are part of the plan, and the Engineering and Technologies Division administers the degree. The Associate in Applied Science is a career-focused degree awarded by the college. Erie Community College, also known as SUNY Erie, publishes this listing in its 2026-2027 catalog. Prospective students should confirm current course sequences and requirements with an adviser before applying.
