AA/AS in Criminal Justice and Corrections

The Administration of Justice program at Gavilan College prepares students for careers in security services and government policing, as well as for transfer to a four-year university. The associate degree path is built for students who plan to continue to bachelor's programs in the California public university systems, provided they follow a general education pattern that supports transfer. An AS-T option leads to the CSU system toward fields like policing, corrections, the social sciences, and legal study. Target careers include municipal police, probation officers, deputy sheriffs, game wardens, and correctional officers. A separate certificate suits students whose employers do not require a full degree, and the page also outlines a law school pathway that combines an associate degree, a bachelor's degree, and law study. Students are advised to meet with a counselor for guidance on choosing among the available options.
