Applied Computer Science joins computing with other disciplines that depend on computational techniques. The program treats those fields as sources of fresh, intriguing challenges for computer scientists, rather than as simple users of software.
The Department of Computer Science in the School of Computing runs the degree, and students can use honors options, a four-year plan and an accelerated master's pathway. Policies allow credit for strong scores on advanced placement and international baccalaureate computer science exams. Students who want to change into the major need a GPA of 2.75 or higher in countable computer science and math courses and must have earned a B or better in specified introductory programming and calculus courses at Mason.
Full course lists, advising contacts and academic policies for the current year are published in the university catalog.
