The Computing Foundations certificate gives students whose undergraduate studies were outside computer science a bridge into computing. They come to understand computer operation along with the design, writing and release of software, and they practice turning real problems into working solutions.
The certificate also has a bridge pathway for students who want to continue toward the master's degrees in Computer Science or Software Engineering without sending a new graduate application. Those who choose the pathway when admitted and finish holding a 3.0 average or above are invited to enroll in their chosen master's program in the following semester. Applicants are normally expected to have a 3.00 average or above in the last 60 undergraduate credits and must send a goals statement along with a resume.
