PhD in Business/Managerial Economics

This doctoral track is administered jointly by Harvard Business School and the economics department. Students are enrolled as both economics and business school scholars. They receive a Ph.D. from the economics department while gaining access to business school faculty and resources. The curriculum pairs theoretical analysis with detailed interdisciplinary research grounded in practical settings. Graduates are prepared for academic posts in business schools and discipline departments, along with government careers. The mix of disciplines gives them both analytical depth and applied perspective. Admission criteria, funding information and deadlines are handled through the graduate school that administers this degree, so applicants should consult that office for current requirements. Those considering the track should weigh how much they want each discipline's methods to shape their own research.
