AA/AS in Music

The music field of study suits students who plan to transfer and earn a music or music education at a four-year school. Music is presented as a discipline that builds creativity, technical excellence and collaboration beyond performance alone. The curriculum follows the music field of study approved by the state, supplying lower-division credit that transfers to Texas public universities. Receiving schools apply it either as a full block or course by course. Careers it prepares students for include education, performance, composition and conducting. A band interest form is available for those wishing to join ensembles. Prospective students should speak with an advisor before enrolling to confirm course sequencing and how the coursework fits their transfer goals. The college's published program page lists faculty contacts and the division that oversees the subject, which helps applicants find the right person to ask about details.
