BA/BS in Biology, General

Biology students at Marietta spend their time in research labs, working alongside faculty, and collecting water samples from local streams rather than sitting in large lecture halls. Every major completes research, and each major also completes a tutorship or else an internship. Capstone findings are presented at All Scholars Day in April. Faculty-led research trips have gone to the American Southwest, Thailand, Costa Rica and Belize, covering topics from paleontology to conservation. The program asks students to apply a liberal arts education to scientific questions and to discuss their work with peers, an approach that research facilities and graduate schools respect. This major is taught at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, within a broader liberal arts curriculum. Prospective students can request information, apply or arrange a campus visit through the college website, and the program page also links to tuition and financial aid details for families comparing options.
