BA/BS in Mathematics

Mathematics majors at Marietta build a foundation in calculus and may pursue areas such as probability, numerical analysis, financial mathematics and theoretical mathematics. A course called BIG Problems pairs students with an industry, nonprofit or government partner so they can use mathematics on a real problem. The program points toward careers including data science, actuarial work and operations research. Strong communication skills from the liberal arts curriculum, combined with data and critical-thinking abilities, are presented as the combination employers want. The major is part of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department. This major is taught at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, within a broader liberal arts curriculum. Prospective students can request information, apply or arrange a campus visit through the college website, and the program page also links to tuition and financial aid details for families comparing options.
