BA/BS in Aerospace Engineering (Course 16)

Aerospace Engineering is an undergraduate major offered through the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Students working toward the SB degree pair a departmental sequence with the Institute-wide core, and the catalog presents the whole plan as a degree chart. Several math and engineering subjects in the program double as science electives, and laboratory options include 16.405[J], 16.811, 16.821 and 16.831[J]. Every major shares one general framework: six science subjects, eight in the humanities, arts and social sciences, two restricted science and technology electives, and one laboratory subject, adding up to seventeen general subjects. A communication requirement runs through both the humanities subjects and the major itself, and students also complete a swimming test and physical education courses. The chart lists required and elective subjects with their unit counts, so applicants can see how the major fits into the wider curriculum before they plan their schedule.
