AA/AS in Biology, General

This associate of science degree is built for students who plan to move to a four-year college and earn a bachelor's in biology or a closely related science. The intended result is that graduates start as juniors in biology programs at other schools, including through MassTransfer agreements. Along the way, students learn how living systems function, practice watching and describing natural events, and begin to act as junior scientists by using laboratory techniques, numerical reasoning, and the scientific method. The curriculum also encourages working in groups, solving problems with imagination, and judging one's own academic progress. Since the pathway may meet MassTransfer requirements, applicants are advised to verify with a participating university whether they qualify before planning their transfer.
