AA/AS in Engineering, General

The Engineering Technology degree at McHenry County College prepares students to work alongside engineers and scientists as technicians. Learners choose an electromechanical, industrial or mechanical design focus. The program blends scientific principles with practical technical skills. Students study how systems are designed, how production problems get solved and how to explain solutions clearly to others. Technicians in this field contribute to computer-aided design, product and material testing, the design of production systems and customer service. The college also points students toward internships and apprenticeships that combine related coursework with structured on-the-job training. The sample plan and the career outlook section help prospective students see which courses come first and where graduates have gone on to study. Questions can go to the college's engineering technology contact line, and stackable certificates such as the Quality Engineering Technician Certificate offer a shorter starting point.
