AA/AS in Anthropology

The anthropology transfer degree explores what it means to be human through genetics and evolution, primate anatomy and behavior, bioarchaeology, language and culture. All of the major subfields receive attention at the college. Students gain grounding in core anthropological ideas, ways of investigating questions and theories of human variation and adaptation, and they examine how culture and language shape history and politics in a connected world. It is intended for students planning a bachelor's in anthropology at a CSU campus. Completing it earns a spot somewhere within the CSU network, though not necessarily at a chosen campus or major, and the bachelor's then needs no more than 60 further units. Students targeting one specific CSU, a University of California campus or a school outside the system should talk with a counselor first, because this route may not fit those plans.
