AA/AS in Social Sciences, General

The General Studies associate in arts, with an emphasis in social and behavioral sciences, offers a wide-ranging course of study in the General Education school. It is aimed at students who may not plan to continue at a university soon. The degree combines breadth and depth. Breadth comes from the college's general education pattern, and depth comes from an additional block of emphasis courses chosen from four areas: natural sciences, humanities, language and rationality, or the social and behavioral emphasis used here. The result is a well-rounded education plus lower-division work that can serve as preparation for a later field of study. The program page also sets out the award type, owning school and subject area, followed by an overview, a career outlook section and a requirements section that points to the catalog.
