AA/AS in Criminal Justice and Corrections

Criminal Justice AAS prepares students for the three main areas of the field: policing, the courts and corrections. It is a two-year degree in the public and human services school, and it also supports transfer into bachelor-level programs. Students gain a foundation in how the system operates, why crime and delinquency occur, and the ethics of decision-making. Faculty bring years of experience from different parts of the field, and a required internship course supplies 90 hours in a supervised professional setting. Graduates have continued at places such as John Jay College, Keuka College, Hilbert College, Norwich University, Bellevue University and Utica University, as well as several SUNY campuses via seamless transfer. Careers include law enforcement officer, corrections officer and crime analyst.
