Cert in Graphic Communications

Moorpark College's graphic design certificate readies students for work at publishers, inside corporate design departments, in studios and at advertising agencies, along with other jobs in the visual arts. Students learn the underlying principles of design and then put them to use across several types of work: illustrating on a computer, editing and manipulating images, laying out pages for print, and preparing files for production. The program stresses learning through projects that mirror real assignments, so participants build practical habits along with technical skills. The credential is a Certificate of Achievement. Prospective students can look in the catalog for the sequence of required courses and should meet with a counselor to map out their plan. Students are encouraged to review program requirements in the current catalog and to speak with a counselor about how the credential fits their longer-term plans.
