AA/AS in Dance

The associate of science in dance is a pre-major credential, covering two years, that builds foundational knowledge and skill in dance. The curriculum includes modern and contemporary dance, ballet, jazz technique, improvisation, composition, conditioning, somatic work, and the cultural side of dance. Students who plan a bachelor's degree in dance complete these requirements along the way and are eligible to receive the associate degree when they finish. The degree totals 60 credits and includes general education courses in writing, quantitative reasoning, and other areas. The published curriculum adds up to 60 semester credit hours. Prospective students are advised to review the official Utah Valley University program page for the current course list, advising contacts, and guidance on how to sequence classes, and should speak with a department adviser before planning a schedule or declaring the major.
