AA/AS in Social Work

The Social Work program at New Mexico State University Grants leads to a 60-credit associate of social work credential, offered through the Grants academic catalog. Students examine the history, policy and theory behind social work and learn to gather and analyze data about social problems and individual behavior. The curriculum prepares students for social service or community health agencies and transfers smoothly to the Bachelor in Social Work at New Mexico State University. Students complete the university-wide degree requirements, including general education courses, together with the core classes of the major. Developmental coursework does not count toward the degree, although some students may need it before starting English and mathematics. Meeting with an academic adviser early helps in choosing courses and planning a transfer or career path.
