Cert in Electrical and Power Transmission Installers

Northcentral Technical College offers this technical diploma for people who want a career building and maintaining power lines. Study blends electrical theory with equipment applications, and safety receives constant emphasis from start to finish. Time is split between classroom sessions and outdoor lab work. Students should expect to work at heights in all kinds of weather, and good vision, hearing and manual dexterity help a great deal in the line mechanic role. Graduates are prepared for jobs with electric utilities and with contractors that construct lines. The college notes that the program follows a clock-to-credit conversion, so some listed courses may not qualify for full financial aid funding. The page lists a combined tuition and fees figure plus a separate books and supplies amount for planning purposes.
