AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

The Accounting offering at Northeast Community College covers two associate-level routes. One is an Associate of Applied Science that introduces the vocabulary, definitions and procedures used to run an accounting system, and it aims to put graduates straight into entry-level accounting jobs. The other is an Associate of Arts with an accounting concentration, a two-year liberal arts plan for people who expect to transfer and complete a bachelor's degree in the field. Spending the first two years at Northeast lets transfer-bound students keep tuition lower before moving on. Coursework in the transfer route centers on accounting, business law, business communication, economics and statistics, so students arrive at their next institution prepared. Both routes stress practical, hands-on experience with current accounting principles applied to realistic situations.
