Program details

Overview

The Economics major combines economic theory with analytical skills, producing graduates ready for positions in private, public and nonprofit organizations. The curriculum has three tracks reflecting faculty strengths and common career paths. Half of the required credits are core courses, including principles, intermediate theory, statistics and a writing course, and the remainder are electives that students can choose with a lot of freedom. Some courses require a finite mathematics prerequisite. Small classes and opportunities for research with faculty are highlighted, as are critical thinking and communication skills and electives from outside economics that fit career goals.
