BA/BS in Accounting and Related Services

Northeastern Illinois University offers a Bachelor of Science in Accounting through the College of Business and Technology, housed in the Department of Accounting, Business Law and Finance. The major trains students to read, prepare and interpret financial records for businesses, government bodies, nonprofits and public accounting firms. Coursework covers ledger fundamentals, reporting statements and the systems used to manage accounting data, giving students a practical grounding in business record keeping. Classes meet during the day, in the evening and on weekends, so students can fit study around work. Its home college carries AACSB accreditation. Graduates of this degree meet the education requirements for CPA licensure in Illinois. The university has not reviewed whether the degree satisfies requirements elsewhere, and students planning to practice in another state should check local rules, since extra courses or exams may apply.
