Program details

Overview

Electrical Technology is a two-year electronics curriculum that earns an applied science associate credential. Students choose from three concentrations so the training matches the kind of work they expect to do after graduation. The general electronics concentration provides a solid foundation and lets students pick technical electives. The industrial electrical concentration serves future technicians who will work around electrical machines, hydraulic and air-powered systems, or motor control equipment. The electrical power concentration targets technicians employed in the utilities that distribute electricity. Instruction is provided through the engineering technology unit, and the curriculum emphasizes practical skills needed on the job. Students interested in continuing their education may later move into a bachelor's program in related technology fields at the university. Hands-on lab work reinforces the theory.
