PGCert in Special Education and Teaching

The Emotional Impairment Certificate leads to an endorsement for teachers who work with students who have emotional or behavioral disorders. It is open to candidates who hold Michigan teaching certification. Two routes exist: an advanced option for those who already hold a special education endorsement, and a basic option for general education teachers. A supervised field experience is required by the state. The coursework can also be continued into a special education master's with an emotional impairment concentration, and the certificate is eligible for financial aid. Oakland University is located in Rochester, Michigan. Prospective students can review current course requirements, request more information or begin an application through the program's official page. Because costs, start terms and requirements can change from year to year, applicants should confirm the latest details with the department before they apply.
