PGCert in Special Education and Teaching

This pathway pairs the Education Specialist Credential with a master's degree in special education (M.A.). English language authorization standards are embedded in the preliminary programs and approved by the CTC, allowing credential holders to provide English language development instruction and content instruction specially designed and given in English to English learners. The Mild to Moderate Support Needs authorization lets the holder assess, teach and provide related services for individuals with mild to moderate needs across many disabilities. Settings cover general education and specialized academic classrooms, homes, natural environments, hospital and treatment-center schools, and itinerant or consultative delivery in public or nonpublic programs, from kindergarten through twelfth grade, plus adult classes. Additional authorizations are available, and advisors hold the complete list of approved ones.
