AA/AS in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities

This two-year Associate of Arts is run through University College and can be taken at any Ohio University campus. It gives students who have not settled on a major a structured way to complete general education requirements while they explore options. Learners pick one of two emphases. The arts and humanities route draws on English, history, philosophy, humanities and the creative fields of art, theater, film and music. The social sciences route instead pulls on sociology, political science, psychology, anthropology, geography and history. Along the way, students strengthen their writing and speaking, analytical thinking and research habits. Because of its broad base, the degree also works as a foundation for those who later transfer into a bachelor's program and want their early coursework to count toward it.
