— it helps other students.
Welding and Metal Fabrication Technology at Onondaga Community College teaches the basics of welding and how to handle structural, pipefitting, and manufacturing tasks. Students become comfortable with the materials and equipment used in welding and work toward strong, precise welds.
Training uses shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, and gas tungsten arc processes. Students also learn to inspect completed welds and to prepare materials before welding. A personal equipment list is required for the program.
Graduates can build careers as welding technicians, supervisors, or inspectors. Classes are in person.
As a career program, it is oriented toward employment soon after completion rather than transfer. Prospective students can request information, schedule a visit, or talk with college staff before applying, and financial aid specialists are available to explain how to pay for study.
