AA/AS in Computer Science

This associate degree gives students a thorough base in both the ideas and the practice of current programming. Based on guidance from the Association for Computing Machinery, it prepares them for beginning programming jobs. Not every course earns transfer credit at four-year institutions. Students are directed to the transfer information in the catalog and to counselors for guidance on how courses apply at particular colleges and universities. The coursework can also serve toward requirements for a computing major at a university. The major begins with Python or an introductory survey course. Students then complete the associate degree general education requirements, with the Cal-GETC pattern available as a substitute, and add transferable electives as needed to reach the full degree total.
